The main role of Geoff, the head of the Driscoll family, is played by Welsh actor Steffan Rhodri.

Over on the big screen, Steffan is known for playing the Ministry of Magic’s Reginald Cattermole in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part I.

As well as starring in The Way, Michael Sheen also wrote and directed the series.

He plays the role of Denny – Geoff’s father, who died years ago and is considered a local legend.

Over the years actor Michael has built up an incredible career, and has become best known for playing real-life figures.

His big roles include playing Chris Tarrant in ITV’s Quiz, David Frost in Frost/Nixon, and Tony Blair in The Queen.

What is The Way about?

The Way is billed by the BBC as being an “emotional and darkly humorous story about what it means to be faced with impossible choices”.

The series taps into the social and political chaos of today’s world by imagining a civil uprising which begins in a small industrial town.

Fleeing unrest, the Driscoll family are forced to escape the country they’ve always called home and the certainties of their old lives.

Will they be overwhelmed by their memories of the past, or will they lay their ghosts to rest and take the risk of an unknown future?

Where was The Way filmed?

The Way is set in Port Talbot, Wales, and was also filmed there too.

The area is where writer and actor Michael Sheen grew up, so he wanted to film the series there.

The actor said he welcomed the chance to return to his home town, and told the BBC: “It’s been incredible to tell this story here in a place that I grew up in, that I know so well.”

Michael also praised the “amazing range of landscapes and places to film in”, and added: “We’ve been able to tell a story that takes place across the whole of the United Kingdom but to shoot it all here.”

How can I watch The Way?

The Way kicks’ off TONIGHT (February 19, 2024) at 9pm on BBC One.

The new series is three parts long, with each episode being one hour long.

The show will air over three weeks on Monday nights at 9pm, concluding on March 4, 2024.
